Phuket is Ready, Are You?

Blue Horizon Staff After COVID-19 in Phuket
Phuket is Ready and Blue Horizon is Back!

As the world reels in what we hope is the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic (and for those still suffering, our hearts go out to you), let’s take a look at what happened in Phuket over the past few months or so.

Like businesses and individuals around the world, Blue Horizon Developments has suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the containment measures, which forced us to temporarily halt operations. However, we’re back in business and ready to continue working on our inspiring lifestyle projects in full force!

In the early stages, before the coronavirus was given a specific name or declared a pandemic, a small number of Chinese tourists who visited Thailand tested positive for the virus. While this caused panic, the later transmission of the virus to locals worried Thais even more and prompted the government to act decisively and swiftly. Any coronavirus cases were quarantined and treated, minimizing fatalities, and containing the outbreak. Provincial governors took it upon themselves to close their borders, and restrict inter-provincial travel. This first phase occurred before the WHO declared COVID-19 as a pandemic.

Once the pandemic was announced, the Thai government passed the emergency decree, which granted the sweeping powers required to control the outbreak promptly. Measures that were taken nationwide included night curfews, lockdowns, closing entertainment venues, sports facilities, shops, and any other places where people gathered, banning the sale of alcohol, and strongly urging people to stay at home and only go out for essentials. Some areas, including Phuket, underwent a more serious lockdown.

While some have criticized the stringent measures taken, others salute the actions, which have minimized the effects on the healthcare system and saved many lives, both Thais, ex-pat residents, returnees, and guests visiting Thailand. Strict laws have kept us all safe during this trying time, and the high standard of healthcare available in Thailand reassures us all. As a result, Thailand has seen very few COVID-19-related fatalities and no shortage of medical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), a great deal of which was donated to hospitals by kind, concerned business owners and individuals.

At Blue Horizon Developments, we were deeply saddened to see others suffering from a loss of income, so we undertook the distribution of food and other necessities to nearby residents, led by Andres Pira, our CEO, who covered the costs. Our company is also showing our continued appreciation for how good to us Phuket has been by supporting over 700 underprivileged kids in Phuket through visa and work permit sponsorship for English teachers. Adversity brings out the best and worst in everybody, and during the Phuket lockdown, we saw the beauty of a community working in harmony to overcome difficulty and help each other as much as possible. According to modern research, loneliness is one of the main contributing factors to unhappiness and disease, and we can safely say that the kind and friendly people of Phuket offer an alternative lifestyle to the isolation seen in some big cities around the Western world.

Not only this, the fresh air and natural beauty of Phuket is enough to bring a smile to anyone’s face. In Phuket, we enjoy the best of nature, whether it is sunrises, sunsets, white sandy beaches, tropical weather, verdant national parks, or other natural attractions. This is why we strive to create lifestyle choices that blend into and emphasize the natural beauty of this unique tropical paradise. Our aim is for residents and guests to increase their quality of life through time spent in our properties, as well as gaining excellent investment opportunities.

In Phuket, we get all the best infrastructure offered in Bangkok, such as world-class healthcare, education, entertainment venues, shopping facilities, a strong ex-pat community, and more, but without the air pollution, overuse of concrete, and crippling traffic jams. This part of the world is not only a fantastic place to reside and relax in, but it is also ripe for those looking to buy low and sell high.
